Before touching on how awesome this is, let me try to allay any concerns: We’re not turning purple.

Our headquarters isn’t moving. Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing. And our mission – to empower creators to make their best work and get it in front of the audience they deserve – certainly isn’t changing.

So what’s new? Simply, Tumblr gets better faster. The work ahead of us remains the same – and we still have a long way to go! – but with more resources to draw from.

Yahoo is the original Internet company, and Marissa and her team share our dream to make the Internet the ultimate creative canvas. I couldn’t be more excited to have her help. Shades of Mike Duffy, also caught trying to  scam Canadians.

But there’s a major difference between the two.

Duffy had  disgraced Harper chief of staff Nigel Wright to bail him out.

Who, if  will anyone, will come rushing forward to  similarly save Wallin’s bacon?

President Barack Obama has vowed to keep pushing for new gun control measures and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the failed gun vote in the Senate was “just the beginning.” However, the latest Reason-Rupe national poll finds just 33 percent of Americans feel the “Senate should debate and vote on gun control legislation again,” while 62 percent want the Senate to “move on to other issues.”

Earlier this month the world’s first fully 3D-printed gun was successfully fired and Reason-Rupe finds Americans are torn on 3D technology.  A substantial 62 percent of Americans say people should be allowed to use 3D printers in their homes. Among those who say Americans should be allowed to have 3-D printers in their home, a majority (53 percent) say Americans should not be allowed to print their own gun parts, 44 percent say they should.

When asked about the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombers, 31 percent of Americans say it makes them more likely to want a gun in their homes, 9 percent are less likely to want a gun and 54 percent say their views weren’t impacted by the events.

Almost half, 49 percent, of Americans fear the Boston bombings will cause the government to “overreact and enact policies that do more harm than good. ” Conversely, 42 percent trust the government to develop policies that help “avoid similar acts of terror.”

The Reason-Rupe poll conducted live interviews with 1,003 adults on mobile (503) and landline (500) phones from May 9-13, 2013. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 3.7 percent. Princeton Survey Research Associates International executed the nationwide Reason-Rupe survey.

Support for Pending Marijuana Bill, Almost No Support for Jailing Users

A majority of Americans, 52 percent, support a bill that has been introduced in Congress that would prevent the federal government from prosecuting people who grow, possess, or sell marijuana in the states that have legalized it. Forty-two percent oppose the bill.

When asked which approach “government and law enforcement should take toward someone found smoking marijuana or in possession of a small amount of marijuana,” the public’s desire for overhauling America’s drug laws is clear. Just 6 percent of Americans say people found with marijuana should go to jail. In contrast, 35 percent say people smoking or in possession of marijuana should not be punished at all; 32 percent say they should be fined; and 20 percent favor rehabilitation and counseling.

Support for Gay Athletes

Following NBA player Jason Collins’ public announcement that he is gay, a quarter of Americans, 25 percent, believe having an openly gay athlete is a positive development for society. Seventeen percent say having an active athlete announce he is gay is a negative change for society and 57 percent feel it makes no impact.

An overwhelming number of Americans—87 percent—say their support would not change (77 percent) or would increase (10 percent) if their favorite athlete announced he or she is gay. Just 12 percent say they’d be less likely to support their favorite athlete after learning he or she is gay. 

Opposition to Plastic Bag Bans

From San Francisco to Austin, city and county governments are banning various types of shopping bags. Yet, 82 percent of those polled say consumers and stores should determine the types of shopping bags available, while 15 percent say the government should decide. 

Sixty percent of Americans oppose banning plastic grocery or shopping bags, 37 percent approve of a plastic bag ban.

Parents, Not Taxpayers, Should Pay for Preschool

President Obama has proposed expanding government preschool programs, however only 37 percent of Americans favor raising taxes to create a universal preschool system, while 61 percent oppose. When asked who should be “primarily responsible” for paying for preschool, 57 percent of Americans think parents should pay and 32 percent want the government to be responsible for paying.

Americans Want Less Spending, More Independents in Congress in 2014

Three-quarters of Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing and 57 percent say the country is headed in the wrong direction. With so much dissatisfaction, the new Reason-Rupe poll finds 38 percent of Americans would like to see more independent and third-party candidates win congressional seats in the 2014 midterms, 31 percent prefer more Democrats and 23 percent of Americans would like more Republicans elected next year.

No matter who is elected to Congress, Reason-Rupe finds 54 percent of Americans want the federal government to spend less money next year, 23 percent favor spending the same amount as this year and 16 percent would like to increase federal spending next year.

Half, 50 percent, of Americans approve of the job President Barack Obama is doing, while 43 percent disapprove. The president loses support on his handling of the economy, where 45 percent approve and 47 percent disapprove.

Support for Chained CPI, Health Care Law Loses Popularity

Both Democrats and Republicans have criticized the president’s proposal to slow the growth of Social Security by using chained CPI to calculate benefit increases, but President Obama may have the public on his side: 57 percent favor “changing the way benefits are calculated so they increase at a slower rate,” while 34 percent oppose such a change to Social Security.

The president’s health care law is losing public support, however. Only 32 percent of Americans say they liked the health care law when it was passed and still like it today. Seven percent liked the law when it was passed, but like it less now. Meanwhile, 45 percent disliked the health care law when it was passed and still dislike it. Four percent of Americans say they disliked the law when it passed, but like it more now.

Duffy, a former CTV News personality,  ‘improperly’ claimed  residential housing expenses.

Former Harper chief of staff Nigel Wright  ‘gave’  Duffy $90,000  to cover the amount.

Now,  “The Senate says it has yet to begin a series of random audits into expenses, raising new questions about what sparked an independent review of the travel spending of Conservative Senator Pamela Wallin, says the Toronto Star,  adding:

“Conservative Senator David Tkachuk, chair of the committee that oversees expenses of the members of the upper House, has said that a review by accounting firm Deloitte of travel expenses claimed by Wallin was the first in a series of random and regular audits stemming from recommendations of the auditor general.”

Wallin, too, was a  CTV News personality.

Wright committed political suicide when he  blew $90,000 on Duffy  so the obese senator  could repay  the money he’d bilked out of Canadian taxpayers by claiming phony housing expenses.

Yesterday, Wright said Harper accepted his resignation “in light of the controversy surrounding my handling of matters involving Senator Duffy, according to the CBC.

“My actions were intended solely to secure the repayment of funds, which I considered to be in the public interest, and I accept sole responsibility,  he said, wiping away a tear.

“I did not advise the prime minister of the means by which Senator Duffy’s expenses were repaid, either before or after the fact,” said Wright, who had been Harper’s chief of staff since January 2011.

What now for the  Teflon-coated Mr Wright?

Said the New York Times   in a story announcing  his appointment:

On Jan. 1, Nigel S. Wright took over as the top adviser to Stephen Harper, Canada’s prime minister. But Mr. Wright has publicly said he intends to returns to his old job, as an executive at the Onex Corporation, the Toronto-based private investment firm, when his current one is finished in about two years.”

“The three opposition parties in the country’s Parliament say that the sweep of Onex’s interests and those of its founder and chief executive, Gerald W. Schwartz, mean that Mr. Wright will face perpetual conflict of interests.

“Onex looms large in Canada, mainly because of Mr. Schwartz’s prominence and the high-profile companies it failed to acquire, notably Air Canada and the brewer John Labatt. The firm’s current 21 portfolio companies are heavily weighted toward ventures in the United States.”

There’s a certain amount of irony in the revelation  because at one point, the porcine Duffy was the said television station’s Ottawa editor.

Now, “The Senate’s internal economy committee sanitized the original audit of Sen. Mike Duffy’s expenses to remove damning findings, documents obtained by CTV News show,” says the aforementioned  CTV, going on:

“A confidential report obtained by CTV’s Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife shows the original version of Duffy’s audit found that the senator broke the Senate’s ‘very clear’ and ‘unambiguous’residency rules.

“The report found that Duffy stayed in his Prince Edward Island cottage mostly during the summer months. He had listed it as his primary residence, which allowed him to claim an annual housing allowance given to senators who live more than 100 kilometres from Ottawa.

“The report also reveals that Duffy’s lawyers sought to have him exempted from the forensic audit.”

All of that was missing from the rewritten audit report that was tabled in the Senate and made public.

Sources say the whitewash was part of a backroom deal with Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s chief of staff, Nigel Wright.

Fife revealed earlier this week that Wright helped Duffy pay back a $90,172 debt to the Senate for improperly claimed living expenses.

The PMO then confirmed that Wright, a former Bay Street executive, wrote a personal cheque to Duffy as a gift to an old friend, although sources say the two men are not close.

The night before, the senator claimed in an email to CTV News that Wright played no role and that he’d taken out a loan to repay the money.

Duffy quit the Conservative caucus Thursday as questions swirled over whether the $90,000 cheque from Wright violated ethics rules that prohibit senators from accepting gifts. Under the Senate Conflict of Interest Code, all gifts over $500 must be reported within 30 days.

 So stay tuned, as the Duffy saga continues to unfold.

It’s been around a while  with the first available version  coming out in July,  2001. The final version went  officially online in 2008.

The Eastern bald senator, the recipient of a $90,000  ‘gift‘  from one of  Steve Harper’s main men, has in effect, it would appear, been given the order of the boot by his senatorial colleagues.

It isn’t often I cheer for the extinction of a species, but on this occasion, it’s apropos

But Nigel Wright, Harper’s chief of staff, , the man behind  the secret gift to Duffy, to help repay his  [Duffy's]‘s  “improper expenses“,”hasn’t been similarly honoured.

Au contraire, he’s still  pulling in a handsome salary fielding the Right Dishonorable Stephen Harper’s faux pas  and deceptions.

“Duffy resigned before what would have been a humiliating showdown for him next week“,” says Jennifer Ditchburn  in her story Canadian Press  story.

Not only but also, Duffy’s expenses may get a second review by independent auditors following media reports regarding expenses he claimed while campaigning for Conservative candidates during the last election.

“In light of yesterday’s media reports regarding Senator Duffy’s expense claims, senators will be asking that the report concerning Senator Duffy be referred back to committee for further examination taking into account this new information,” a spokesperson for Marjory LeBreton, leader of the government in the Senate, told the CBC.

“That move, to determine if Duffy was charging both the Senate and the Conservative Party for his travel expenses, could come as early as Tuesday when the Senate resumes sitting,” the story says .

Nothing like a little double dipping, eh?
